Great North Swim - 2 miles

Wow - can’t believe my time!

162nd of 612.

What a great swim. Southbound leg was into the waves and was pretty tough, and the first half-mile was a constant batle to find some space, but I loved every minute. Can’t wait until next year.

A mile in the pool in a new wetsuit

Wetsuits make you faster!
Great North Swim in 3 days, so thought I should try out my new thin wetsuit.
Unless I seriously miss-counted, that is my first sub-30 min mile. Previous best was about 33minutes. Its all down to the suit - I could really feel how much faster it made me - the first few strokes were a bit bizarre as it felt like I was being carried on a current.
I was intending to do 2 miles, but the combination of a late meal and overheating in the suit convinced me not to risk it. Nausea is never a good sign in a swimming pool!
